Burleigh
A small village in the Bur Riding of the County of Seale, lying on the first bridging point of the Lee River.
It mainly exists because of the bridge over the river - it consists of a toll booth (for the bridge), an tavern (The Vinyard) and a few local amenities (a blacksmith, a wheelwright and a watermill). There is no inn - proximity to Salines means that most people will journey the last couple of miles there rather than tarry in Burleigh.
Defences
The village has a stockade of stout wooden timbers to protect it from raiders. There are two gates - one facing the bridge, and one on the landward-side - the road splits immediately outside the gate, heading south to Salines and north to @harleigh.
Infrastructure
There is one tavern in the village, called the Vinyard. It is basically the ground floor of a house, and is where the locals tend to gather of an evening to socialise. Food can be prepared, but is not normally on offer; the main fare is home-made ale or the local wine.
There is a blacksmiths that will shoe horses or do minor repairs to metal items.
There is a wheelwright who makes and repairs wheels. He also produces barrels for the local vinyards.
There is also a watermill on the River Lee (or rather on a mill race that leads off the river). This grinds flour for most of the local farms.
There is also a small shrine.
