The Black Tower

The Black Tower is an ancient structure located in The Freeholds . Legend tells that it was built in a night and a day by the archmage Y'haine, who led a party of S'el refugees after The Rain of Fire. They crossed the mountains and rested here, where the Black Tower was built as part of a new capital. But according to the legends, fire demons from S'el pursued them through the tunnel and fell upon them, causing Y'haine to abandon the Black Tower and flee across the Javan River river and found K'el on the far side. The Black Tower remains to this day, casting a fell shadow over Darkdale . The locals avoid it, and no one claims to have entered it in the four millenia since Y'haine abandoned it.
