Pharasma

Gazing across all of time, she judges and shepherds Ancandra's recently departed souls to their final fates. Upon death, souls migrate via the River of Souls to Pharasma's Boneyard for her judgement atop an impossibly tall spire in the Outer Sphere that pierces the Astral Plane.   Pharasma makes no decision on whether a death is just or not; she views all with a cold and uncaring attitude, and decides on which the Outer Planes a soul will spend eternity. Pharasma is also the goddess of birth and prophecy: from the moment a creature is born, she sees what its ultimate fate will be, but reserves judgement until that soul finally stands before her.   Pharasma is one of four gods who assisted in bringing an end to the First Death March.

Holy Books & Codes

The Bones Land in a Spiral: is the holy book of Pharasma. This work is written in several parts. The first part consists of vague, debatable predictions by an ancient prophet. The prophesies are inconclusive and esoteric, allowing a cunning reader to fit specific parts of the text to any number of situations, past or future. Other sections that were added later contain information on safe childbirth, the proper burial of bodies, performing auguries, and other such matters.

Tenets of Faith

Many of Pharasma's worshipers are closely aligned with either burgeoning life or terminating death. These include midwives, grave diggers, and morticians. Pregnant women often carry small medallions bearing her likeness to protect their child. Her followers dress in black for her ceremonies, with their clothes adorned with silver, and carry tiny vials of holy water.   Her priests are typically clerics, diviners, and necromancers. Before the pact of The Endless, Pharasma abhored the undead and considered them a disruptive perversin of the natural cycle of souls; commanding her followers and servants to destroy all undead beings. After the creation of The Pact, Pharasma allows the creation of the undead, although it is unknown if her opinion of the undead has changed. Many followers of Pharasma outside of the Necralis Empire still follow the old ways and will destroy any undead on site.

Holidays

Pharasma's followers celebrate the Day of Bones on the 5th of Pharast and her priests take part in the Procession of Unforgotten Souls in the weeks up to the harvest feast.
