Archbishopric of Kvas

• As eastern Dvin was colonized by coastal peoples thousands of years ago, one confederation of settlers was led by a charismatic cleric of Saroyan the Lawgiver named Arsenault.
• Converting whole caravans on the way to this new land, when they arrived he was already the leader of a large contingent.
• Calling their new home ‘Kvas’, meaning ‘hallowed place’ in Old Ausranian.
• Cut off from other settlements, the Kvasians tried to proclaim Arsenault their king, but he refused. He finally accepted the title of Archbishop, ruling as a king in everything but name.
• As the Kvasians conquered more of Dvin, their Archbishopric grew and they became one of most powerful territories in the new kingdom.
• The rulers of Kvas are always both the highest temporal and highest spiritual leader in the archbishopric.
