Gem Dragons WIP
A new phenomenon, and magical curiosity, are gem dragons: amethyst, crystal, emerald, sapphire, and topaz. Less grounded in the Material than their chromatic and metallic cousins, gem dragons are beings of pure magic. Their breath weapons are pure magic, and they are able to fly using though and will rather than their body. They are capable of telepathic communication and weave masterful spells with ease.
Unlike other dragons who appear like creatures of flesh and blood, gem dragons look as if they were carved or created out of their gemstone namesakes. A gem dragon standing still would appear to be a statue, as they do not need to breathe or blink for long periods of time.
Draconic Complulsion. Like all true dragons, gem dragons have an irresistible compulsion to hoard and collect.
Child of the World. As the chromatic dragons have Tiamat, and the metallic have Bahamut, the gem dragons recognize one of their kind who is eldest and first: Sardior, the Ruby. It was created, the first true child of Tiamat and Bahamut, a joining so monumental it changed the laws of the world as we know it, and gave birth to the gem dragons. Sardior, when it was just a wyrmling, grew so lonely that it began to cry, and its gemstone tears became the gem dragons.
