The Family Zarovich Tombs

K85. Sergei's Tomb

A portcullis is closed in the archway of this tomb. Lifting it requires a successful DC 25 Strength check.
White marble steps descend to a tomb that has a vaulted ceiling thirty feet overhead. A stillness--a calm amid the storm--is felt here. In the center of the tomb, a white marble slab supports an intricately inlaid coffin. Chiseled into the slab is a name: Sergei von Zarovich. A beautifully carved statue stands in each alcove--a young man flanked by two sunburst-crowned soldiers--looking as polished and new as the day it was placed there. An iron level protrudes from the south wall, west of the tomb's entrance.
Pulling the lever lifts the portcullis at the top of the stairs.   Fortunes of Ravenloft. If your reading said that this was the place of Strahd's weakness, then fighting him here has the following affect: Soul of Valor: If a character is reduced to 0 HP in Sergei's tomb while fighting against Strahd, they feel a sense of warmth, protection, and purpose. On their next turn, rather than making a death saving throw, they are raised to half of their maximum hit points, and have resistance against Strahd's next attack against them.
If your reading says there is a treasure here, it is lying at the foot of one of the statues of Sergei.

K86. Strahd's Tomb

A heavy portcullis stands closed in the archway leading to this tomb. Lifting it requires a DC 25 Strength check.
Black marble steps descend to a dark tomb that has a vaulted ceiling thirty feet overhead. The smell of freshly turned eaerth permeates the air. Settled into a large pile of dirt on the floor is a shining black coffin of finely waxed wood. The coffin's fittings are brilliant brass, and the lid is closed. South of the coffin are three gloomy alcoves. An iron lever protrudes from the north wall, east of the tomb's entrance.
Raising the lever lifts the portcullis at the top of the stairs. Pulling it down lowers the portcullis.   Fortunes of Ravenloft. If your reading reveals that a treasure is here, it is in the center alcove, inside a plain black box. The first creature to touch the box must make a DC15 Charisma save. On a failure, they are besieged by images of war, death, and pain such as those Strahd saw in his lifetime, take 2d6 Psychic damage, and become frightened. They suffer no ill effects on a success.

K87. Guardians

Two side sets of black marble steps descend to a landing flanked by two alcoves. Within each alcove, taking up the full thirty-foot-height of the ceiling, is a bronze statue of a warrior holding a spear. Beyond them are more descending stairs.
This steps lead to Area K88.

K88. Tomb of Branwen and Barov

A portcullis is closed in the archway of the tomb. Lifting it requires a successful DC 25 Strength check.
A set of white marble steps descend into this beautiful tomb. The vaulted ceiling thirty feet ahead is inlaid with a beautiful gold mosaic. A huge marble slab supports two coffins laid side-by-side. Chiseled into the slab at the coffins' feet are two names: Barov von Zarovich and Branwen von Zarovich. In the alcoves behind them are three huge portraits. The one on the left depicts a young Barov in shining black armor. The one on the left depicts a young Branwen in a fur cloak of red and green. The one in the center depicts the two in wedding finery, arm in arm, stern-faced and bright-eyed.
The coffins contain the bones of Strahd's parents. At the foot of Barov's coffin is a chest full of maps and books detailing (most) of his life. At the foot of Branwen's coffin is a chest of history books and decorative spell scrolls.   There is a lever against the north wall which raises and lowers the portcullis.   Fortunes of Ravenloft. If your reading says a treasure is here, it is in the chest at the foot of Branwen's coffin.
