This sandbox of cultures and concepts aims to draw on inspirations from our own Earth's history, cultures and myths and combine them with classic D&D concepts.   Ancient Waters started with a small region of many rivers and waterways, and the idea of an old, ooold world. Thus the project name stuck. The core concept is a world that is past its typical high fantasy ''golden days'' with dragons, adventurers and fighting gods. The world has, however, not progressed far. Development is not linear, and will not endlessly follow a route of modernization. Neither will its glory fade away with ''the light of the valar''.   The world finds itself stuck in a complicated and ever changing state of both developing new (and discovering old) technologies, social developments and faiths.   Each region has some core of one or several Earth cultures, usually with one or more twists. In Ancient Waters you are encouraged to take your favorite cultural concept or design, add some D&D flair to it, and add to the world's lore.
