Bloodtithe, Episode 18: Honor Among Thieves

General Summary

Oh boy, the moment we've all been waiting for; heist time. Honestly, it went really smoothly. Team A made it in the front door, Team B found their way in through the sewers without being consumed by Big Tony or tripping any alarms.

Both teams managed to make it into the back room with little incident. Tyra and Pharos checked their bags at the front door with no issue, but did run into a small hiccup when Tyra activated the sound capturing device, incidentally alerting one of the guards, who confiscated it. However, lying, and saying that they were a reporter from the Dark Light, got them in with Lord Baron Octavian Spencer.

At first glance, seated at the head of the table, wearing a very tight fitting tunic that showed off his rippling muscles, sporting a trim beard and flashed back white hair, Lord Spencer the dark elf struck quite the handsome figure. However, once he descended his podium, revealing that he was in fact standing at the head of the table, and that he is in fact a deep gnome, he became less so. But, he was no less obsessed with himself and that their might be a reporter here to interview him and shed light on his philanthropic endeavors through the years.

While that was happening, Team B was following in close behind, invisible. Here is where things got interesting. One of the guards approached and told the Baron that the "Silver Bat" was there to see him, and Lord Spencer excused himself, leaving Tyra to observe him under Divine Sight. But, there was someone in the room that their Sight couldn't pick up. A masculine figure in a silver fox mask. Vanderlith approached him, but his reflective silver eyes seemed to watch as Vanderlith moved in front of him, and so he got out of the way.

Tyra moved to talk to the man, who at this point was assumed to be the the High Inquisitor. But the Man Whom the Party Assumed Was the High Inquisitor moved away from them, not wishing to speak.

At this time, Valan and Olette followed the Baron out to where he had a meeting with the Silver Bat, another individual who could not be picked up by Tyra's Sight, and witness the Silver Bat hand something over to the Lord Baron Octavian Spencer.

And this is where shit went sideways.

As Olette and Valan saw the Silver Bat hand Stormdancer over to the Baron, they were faced with a choice. Grab it now and scuttle the mission, promising Vanderlith a body by other means, or let the Stormdancer slip through their fingers to carry out the mission. They chose to do both: carry out the mission, and get Stormdancer back.

The Teams split up into individuals. Tyra went through the art gallery to observe with Divine Sight, Valan snuck upstairs into the auction, following the guard with Stormdancer. Olette went to the Library with YURI to get the Arclight Harness. Vanderlith snuck ahead of Valan and explored the auction lots.

Tyra saw paintings of the Stand of Storms where Elaria fought the Aurelian Empire, and the Godscar, where the Wanderer fought the Dark. Then, they were pulled up by the Baron to witness the auction. Items included: Lot 1, beautiful, ancient kintsugi vase with onyx inlays depicting the cyclical birth, death, and rebirth of Andali. Lot 2, The Flesh Vault of Khalamzar. Lot 3, the Map to Encario, an ancient weathered map depicting path through a portion of the continent below the Aurelian Empire that does not exist. Lot 4, a Manual of Clay Golems. Lot 5, an Ioun Stone of Mastery. Lot 6, the Broken Blade of Dawnfire. Lot 7, God's Head, a weathered, mummified head that would appear inert if not for several unsettling traits, including but not limited to: the dark black ichor constantly flowing out of it, the black, very mobile eyes, and the sewn shut mouth. Finally, the special lot, Stormdancer.

Now, while these were brought out, paraded, bid on, returned to their pedestals in back, and promptly stolen by Valan, who, while the auction was going on, briefly tripped an alarm, and then worked with Vanderlith to get the code for the Library from the Armory, allowing them to unlock it. Then shit truly hit the fan in miraculous fashion as several things happened at once.

Olette and YURI stole the Arclight Harness with truly sickening ease. Tyra called upon Callisto and Jules to create a distraction, which they did with extravagant fashion and collateral damage. Tyra grabbed Stormdancer out of the Lord Baron Octavian Spencer's hand and fulminated out the front wall into Callisto's waiting gondola, leaving a fomorian in their wake. Valan ran out of the back room and down the stairs, joining Jules in the gunfight, before everyone ran out the front door to the getaway vehicle, leaving the Spencer Mansion in shambles.

Meeting back up with Arkadeus, he happily went about constructing Vanderlith, who, after sucking all the energy out of Arkadeus' arcane metals, animated in spectacular green flame.
