Halflings

Halflings will always long for the comforts of home. The peace and quiet of a settled hobbit hole, far from marauding monsters and clashing armies. Warm fire, friendly faces, generous means, and fine drink. Many halflings live in secluded communities, like Honeywell in Fulminaria or Syrene in central Aurelia, or the well-kept groves of the Rose Protectorate. Others make the open road their home, forming nomadic bands that roam across the wide horizon to discover the wonders of new lands and new people. But even these wanderers love peace, food, hearth, and home, though home may be a wagon jostling along a dirt road or a raft floating downriver. Even still, some halflings opt for the bustle of city life, setting up shop across the empires as merchants and craftsmen.   Regardless of where you meet them, halflings are a generally affable and cheerful people, easily moved to pity and slow to hate. Though drawn to the quiet life, many halflings find themselves called to adventure be it by curious wanderlust, necessity, or to seek a community of fellowship in adventurers. They love discovering new things; even simple things, such as exotic foods or unfamiliar clothing styles.

Lightfoot Halfling

The gift of natural stealth that the lightfoot halfling enjoys from a lineage of roadborne wanderers makes them the ideal rogue; quick, quiet, smart, and small. Because they are accustomed to life on the road, these lightfoots are the most likely to set out on their own to find adventure wherever it may be waiting for them. Many lightfoots start life in one of the great caravans of their people, take up a life of adventure, and then settle down with fellows from their adventures in a city somewhere along the caravan route, keeping their connections from their life close.

Stout Halfling

Conversely, stout halflings are far less likely to take to the road. Content to live in their quaint homes dug into hillsides across the empires, stout halflings find pleasure in the little luxuries of life. They are known to brew exceptional mead, which some credit with their resistance to toxins. At times, a young stoutheart sets their gaze on the horizon and are struck with an insatiable wanderlust. These are the folk that find themselves becoming adventurers, returning to their quiet towns with tales of glory and treasures to line their hearths.
