Kobold

Far below the empires, where the earth is tightly packed and there is little air to breath, a nimble race of draconic lizardfolk discovered an uncanny phenomenon. Beneath the surface, there was a vast network of unexplored Precursor roads, tunnels, and cities that stretch from coast to coast, unobeyant of the politics of the surface world. In this underground world, untold sagas of kobold history unfolded as they warred against aberrations that dwelled below, duergar that would take the cities for their own, and incursuions from the inhabitants of the shallower depths of the earth.
In these subterranean halls, kobolds gained the edge in their conflict by making allies of dragons that shared their chromatic hues. With their champions, they carved out a place for themselves. The ingenious creatures are masters of traps and unusual weaponries. Kobolds are often found on the surface in small scouting parties for food or treasure, or entreating the whims of whomever they answer to.
