Crassaw
Crassaw, dreaming of becoming a Renaissance man, wants access to the council library. While he has been grudgingly allowed to use the library of the Wandering Merchant's Guild, he knows that there are far more books on far more subjects in the council library. Crassaw isn’t really any good at any of the other things Renaissance men are good at; he can really only absorb, not produce anything of his own, he’s hoping that something in the guild library will be inspirational enough that he can actually start contributing to the intellectual community instead of just memorizing a bunch of random facts.
Crassaw first met our heroes as they toured the WMG’s library after arriving in Tinimul from Zaeeltown.
The Tinimul Council doesn’t have a policy on who is allowed into the libraries. Most people find anything they need at the WMG and sometimes Tian bring specifically requested books to registered researchers, but it’s still pretty rare to go there. Crassaw isn’t sponsored by anyone and so cannot be a registered researcher. To be sponsored, the sponsor needs to have standing with the council, generally either a council member or a high-ranking member of the WMG, though there are other, much more uncommon ways that vary from situation to situation.
Deld, the mage in charge of overseeing the manufacture of communications crystals, is very particular with the books and distrusts Crassaw’s possible motives. If not for her concerns someone would have probably let him in by now. Ceta, the head librarian, kind of wants to find a way to let Crassaw in just because it’ll irritate Deld. Ceta hates how Deld is always getting into how she runs the library, and Ceta doesn’t see anything wrong with Crassaw’s motives or anything else, and just thinks that Deld is too paranoid/protective regarding the books.
