The second oldest profession behind prostitution, assassins are both looked down for their choice of profession, and highly sought after. While the profession may technically be illegal in many nations, rulers and higher ranking individuals are common customers for the assassin, the promise of rivals or enemies being eliminated too tempting.

Qualifications
Being an assassination isn't for just anyone. One must be able to take a life with their own hands, to see the life fade from one's eyes. Stealth is also very important, for a clumsy assassin would be quickly caught, or unable to take out their target before help was summoned.
Career Progression
Many assassins begin at a young age, as orphans taken in by a guild and taught the ways of the kill. However there are some families whose entire identity revolves around assassination, and the children are no exception.
Payment & Reimbursement
Payment depends on the target and the assassins professional history. For example, taking out a poor farmer may only cost a handful of gold coins, while taking out a member of the royal family would cost a fortune. In addition, younger assassins looking to pad their kill count are more likely to take a job for a lower price, while a veteran with hundreds of successful contracts have the ability to pick and chose their contracts.
