Fungal Caverns

A series of vast caverns in the 'Under Caves', these caves are home to a diverse array of fungus, moss, mold, mushrooms, and algae despite the lack of sunlight. The amount of highly sought after alchemical materials is an alchemists dream, so long as they can avoid the various dangers that lay hidden among the mushrooms.

Geography

These caverns are actually quite expansive and are found in semi-tropical areas. In comparison to other caves and caverns the Fungus Caverns are not super deep in the planet, but not super shallow either. In some cases the fungus within the caverns have been know to grow up through the ground and begin to grow on the surface.

Fauna & Flora

These caverns are dominated by many species of fungus and mushrooms. To a lesser extent other kinds of flora consist of molds, algae and mosses. There is actually a decent amount of fauna that can be found in these caves as well, bats are common and some species have been known to roost in the caps of large mushrooms. Slugs are the equivalent of deer and rabbits in these caves, munching on the various mushrooms and keeping their population under control. Other species such as spiders, beetles, ants, ect can also be found in these caverns. Various species in these caverns are bio-luminescent, however a good amount of these species tend to be dangerous for passerby, so it's wise not to approach them without a guide. There are some rumors of mushrooms that walk and act like humanoids but surely that isn't possible, right?

Natural Resources

These caverns are a important source of alchemical ingredients, with many ingredients only found in these caves. Locals also rely on the caves for a portion of their food. There is also a niche market for the unique and rare mushrooms for collectors.
