Gold Coin War

It had started out as the most unlikely of truces, two pirate kings working together to steal a royal treasure hoard like no other. A once in a life time heist, the treasure was being transported via the sea from one kingdom to another. The treasure was escorted by hundreds of ships filled with well trained sailors, and cannons.   Alone neither pirate king stood a chance to steal this treasure, but together they stood a chance. After a ton of planning, and an epic battle, the two pirate kings came out victorious. It took several days to divvy up the treasure between the two pirates, and everything was going pleasantly until they got to the very last gold coin. Up until this point the treasure had been evenly split between the two pirate kings, but neither one could agree who would get the last coin.   Neither pirate wanted to be the one to get the least amount of treasure and the argument got extremely heated and weapons were drawn. A massive fight broke out and in the end both pirate kings left on a sour note, swearing revenge for this slight. For the next two years these pirates were bitter enemies, competing for targets, sabotaging each other's ships, and flat out battles. The loyalty to the two pirate kings quickly eroded in their crews, and after two years their crews could take the feuding and bloodshed no more. Together the crews mutinied, and abandoned the two pirate kings on a small deserted island. They were left with only a single gold coin, and were last seen trying to kill each other.

The Conflict

Aftermath

To prevent such a stupid war from breaking out again, many pirate captains implemented a new tradition were 1-2 gold coins from each heist would be tossed into the seas for good luck, and so there would never be an argument over the last coin.
