Ones of the Deep
'The Raging Seas' drifting in nearby waters. What was rare however, was to find a survivor clinging to one of these pieces. After being brought on deck and tended to, the sailor recalled what had happened to him, and what he saw within the Whirlpool.
It wasn't uncommon to find bits and pieces of ships that met a watery grave in Summary
The voyage was said to have started like any other., and was only supposed to last few days, a simple trip along the coast to deliver goods between port cities. They were midway through their voyage when pirates attacked. The merchant ship managed to initially avoid them, but the pirates were gaining quickly. The captain decided to sailing close to 'The Raging Seas', hoping that the pursuing pirates would loose their nerve, or get sucked into a whirlpool. The pirates must have been just as crazy as the captain, for they stayed on the ship's tail, even as the captain began weaving through areas with whirlpools.
Eventually their luck wore out, and a whirlpool began to form between the merchant ship and the pirate ship. The pirate ship tried to avoid the whirlpool, but they were unable to escape the powerful current, and were dragged into the heart of the whirlpool. At first it seemed like the merchant ship would stay ahead of the growing whirlpool, but the ship was soon hopelessly caught in the current being whipped around until it was sucked into whirlpool.
The sailor reports that he can't remember how he ended up practically unharmed on the ocean floor within the whirlpool, but when he opened his eyes he was laying in the mud, surrounded by the shattered remains of many ships. As he got to his feet he saw a massive wall of roaring water surrounded the area he was in. At first all he could see was darkness beyond the wall of water, but all of a sudden there was flashes of color. It took him a moment, but he soon realized that these flashing colors were attached to large creatures that were swimming and dancing around the whirlpool. The sailor became aware of loud grunts, shrieks, and moans from the creatures. One of the creatures however, seemed to float before the whirlpool, two limbs reaching upwards while it looked towards the surface. Fascinated, the sailor watched as the creatures continued their ritual, seemingly unfazed by the growing whirlpool. Abruptly the singing stopped, and the dancing creatures came to a halt. The one with it's arms raised jerked it's head to the sailor, and the two stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity, before the figure threw it's arms down. The whirlpool began to collapse in on itself, and the last thing the sailor saw was the creature's eyes still watching him, before the water slammed into him. Next thing he knew, he was being hauled from the water, and onto a ship.
