Genetics and Reproduction

Phoenixes build their nests out of highly flammable twigs and grasses. This is because their eggs have strong shells that need fire to make them brittle enough for the chick to break through when it's time to hatch. Occasionally parents may perish in the flames trying to help their chicks hatch.

Native to arid deserts and warm prairies.
