Boar wrestling
History
Oiginates as a ritual for warriors to appease the God of Battle, Betor. Warrior men and women in northern tribes would call upon the god of battle by stripppign naked, painting their bodies with symbols holy to Betor and go into the woods. Once they had found a worthy opponent, they would wrestle the creature barehanded into submission. If the warrior encountered a worthy opponent and slet it, that meant Betor was pleased. The wrestler would get the beasts heart for consumption. Wresteling a boar and claiming it's heart was concidered the highest honour and a test of maturity. Manny years later this ritual returned in the form of a spectacle sport. Nowadays fighters will try to wrestle a tusked boar in plain pants and shirt. The garnments may be used against the bore if the fighter seems fit. The matches are held in underground fighting rings where people would spectate and bet on either bore or fighter. It has since also became a more regulated sport with a few smaller arena's hosting non-leathal matches between men and various beasts.
Execution
Ringmasters are in contact with local hunters to breed, capture or 'obtain' strong boar specimens. Tusk size is important. the larger the tusks of the boar, the more dangerous the competition, smaller tha change of a payout for a fighteer and the bigger the spectacle.
Winning fighters recieve a prize purse with some gold pieces or sometimes 'obtained' jewels. The sport is mainly parcticed in the darker parts of cities, with Nightshire at the hem.
Components and tools
In the hosted fights, fighters will still smear Betors blessing upon their bodies. the paint they use consists of bore blood, gooading the boar into attacking the fighter without reservation.
