Alchemists' Alliance
The Alchemists' Alliance, known as the Cauldrons is the main alchemist guild on the continent of Cindras.
The Alliance is a very old guild, created over a thousand years ago. They are primarily focused on their craft, concentrating on experimentation and research, as they attempt to expand their knowledge of potions and potion-making.
The Alchemists' Alliance is led by a council of ten of the highest-ranking members from across Cindras. The Council of Cauldrons controls the main course the guild takes, what it gets involved in, and how to deal with sensitive situations. Being quite large, the Alliance will defer to ranking members when it comes to local matters or situations involving lower-ranking members in the same area, including disciplinary actions.
The Alliance is very active in recruiting new members and will seek out those with skills in the alchemical arts. And although minor transgressions can be forgiven, the Alliance takes a dim view of members of defy their core principles. Any major infraction is immediately met with the status of Bad Standing, anything further, and you are removed from the Alliance.
The Alliance tries to work with local governments to ensure that its members act within the laws of whatever nation they operate from. This helps to ensure that the Alliance is looked upon favorably by the general populace. Most people probably are unaware of what exactly the Alliance does, but they know that they can find quality potions, salves, tinctures, and such at Alliance-approved shops. Most people are blissfully unaware of the research and testing that most members of the Alliance perform, and are just happy to buy a remedy for that nagging cough.
The Alliance has recently become engaged in trying to put a stop to the The Bitterbrew Gang, a collection of alchemists and potioners who have begun to manufacture drugs. They have had very little success in infiltrating or dismantling the operation.
Respect for Nature. Members acknowledge that the natural world holds within itself great power, and it is a privilege to work with it. This does not mean that all members must be tree-embracing druids (though some certainly are), but the alchemist association does not condone the wholesale abuse or destruction of the natural world. Members doing so face disciplinary action up to and including termination of their membership.
Secrecy. Members acknowledge that their work involves processes that could be carried out by unskilled individuals to create dangerous substances. To prevent this, practices and recipes used for alchemy are restricted and not for release to non-association members. The confidentiality of the alchemist association’s information is paramount to the safety of all. If an alchemist’s recipes are found outside of their possession, other alchemists will investigate. If the recipes were lost through negligence or were deliberately shared, in violation of this principle, the member faces disciplinary action up to and including termination of their membership.
