History

House Brachyrhynchos is oft cited as a most strategic force; one that greatly aided the Vertebrates in their

victory during the Great Dying, particularly in their air-raid strategies during the battles of Blanculo Crust and Paper Hill. Not often entering into battle themselves, House Brachyrhynchos have often acted as orchestrators of military and political strategy.

During the war, Lady Caurina, Head of House, also held the position of Strategist-Exalt of the WingGuard, while her husband, Lord Caldwell, sat as Counsellor to Lord Tyrus of House Laniidae, the near-king and principle decision-maker during Ornithuria's war efforts. Their first-born, Draven, was killed at the Siege of Rattler Hills as he attempted to fly new flight plans to the WingGuard commanders.

After the death of Draven, the two remaining Brachyrhynchos joined the war effort as well: Muniin entering into the WingGuard herself, and Crowley, the youngest, entering into the newly-formed and short-lived Warling program, after passing multiple intelligentsia tests administered by the Mashhad Altuyuri. Less than 1% of applicants to the Warling program were accepted, bringing high honor to the Brachyrhynchos name.

Both Muniin and Crowley were present at the Battle of Paper Hill, Crowley witnessing St. Panos delivering the death-blow to Apocrita and later acting as witness for the Pananimus Assembly regarding Panos' claim to the throne. Since the war, both children have continued on in their professional paths, Muniin acting as underling to her mother as Strategist-Minora of the WingGuard, and Crowley entering into a formal relationship with House Laniidae after the passing of his father, as Scrivener to House Laniidae and a historian of Ornithuria.
