History

Heavily involved in Apocrita's reign, the once noble house of Mantidae has fallen from grace in post-war Animalia. For their war-crimes, including the decapitation and consumption of Lady Crotalus of House Serpentera at the Siege of Rattler Hills, the Heads of House, Lady Diabolica and Lord Coronatus, were executed following the Pananimus Assembly.

Young Omnipita, the daughter of the executed heads of house, was named Lady of House Mantidae at only thirteen years old. For many years she held her station nobly, holding onto the power they once held, until the full reconstruction of Exarhtropodia took place and House Lepidoptera was named as capital.

As head of this dying house, with many of her relatives dead or sworn to others, she took a husband in Lord Hymenopus and sired two children, first Jarnold then Thespida. As part of the Pananimus agreement, her first-born was decreed to act as a ward to another prominent house. In this case, Jarnold was sent to live with House Laniidae at age five. A year after Jarnold departed, Lord Hymenopus died in a jousting accident.
