Horses
Horse are four legged animals the same as cats and dogs, about the size of a cow. They used to be very useful for pulling carriages and farm equipment. But with the liberation the steam engine gave us horses became obsolete.
Farmers started using steam powered machines that could pull much heavier loads, for much longer times at greater speeds, really improving their abilities to produce from their farm. People also prefer the use of trains and steam carriages over the horse drawn variety. They are faster and better.
With the spread of steam, the horse population went down, they weren't necessary anymore. Most went to the butchers, some got to live to an old age in some farmers corner. Entire local species went extinct. Those who were bred to suit the local environment best, stronger ploughing horses for clay ground, smaller types for the mountainous areas and the heavy pullers from the loggers. They are all gone.
It is rumoured that in the north, in the Dutchy Larkin there are some horses left, but they are a private bunch there just over the mountains. But it's probably just some old wife’s tale, why wouldn't they have changed to steam, it's superior!
The king kept horses in his stables (house for horses, similar to a garage for vehicles) for a while, to pull his fancy carriage, out of some weird idea of tradition. But even he changed to a steam powered carriage. Burning true Eglonion coal
Hannah was flipping through the different tickets, first the train from Millpoint to Ivoryhall, then three more trains. Kevin had arranged them neatly in order, with the different hotel reservations in between as they had to spend the night on every stop. It again surprised her that Eglen was this big.
The last ticket puzzled her. It was a ticket for a Carriage. She was expecting it to say steam carriage, not just carriage. But adding steam was a bit unnecessary actually, why wouldn't it be steam.
