Tempest Industries
Tempest Industries is a medium-sized conglomerate employing several thousand employees throughout the western portions of organized space. TI prides itself in unmatched cargo transport capabilities and is the leading provider of transport services in the known galaxy.
Structure
Tempest Industries follows a typical corporation hierarchy, with department chiefs, managers, and employees. What sets Tempest apart from many other corporations is its lack of any significant permanent base of operations, instead operating as a large collection of cargo vessels under one corporate banner.
Public Agenda
Ever since its founding by Karvash Tradewrest in 86 GE, Tempest has made itself available only in the western regions of occupied space. Their agenda is that of most other companies: amass as much capital and assets as possible. Despite being a leading figure in the realm of transport operations, Tempest is known for having high prices that drive many people to continue hiring private merchants.
Assets
As of 164 GE, Tempest Industries has 112 vessels in service under their company name. Most are small and medium-sized merchant vessels, but they operate a fleet of some of the largest cargo carriers that regularly fly transport routes. Most of their ships were contract built by GalacTek Unlimited and Polystar Industries, in an attempt to drive down the prices as GalacTek and Polystar tried to out-bid one another. Besides that, two decommissioned Steadfast-Class cruisers from the Republic of Fevaria were sold to Tempest in 152 during Fevaria's re-armament during the Fourth T'Kiri-Fevarian War. These cruisers were refitted for cargo operations, but some of their weapons systems were left online to allow them to act as escorts when needed.
Military
The Tempest Security Division (TSD) is overseen by the Chief Security Officer and operates on many of the larger ships in Tempest's fleet. They are not an elite force, so when typical security personnel is not enough, the Aeon Federation is contracted to provide military assistance.
