Vorak-12 System

The Vorak-12 System is a backwater colony on the outskirts of Imperial space, not given much attention by the politicians in Parliament. It is dominated by a single K-Class star named Vorak-12 and two terrestrial planets, only one of which is semi-habitable.
Vorak II was only originally colonized by accident. A colony ship by the name of 'The Vana Wind' was unable to repair its early warp drive, and sometime around 24 GE it was forced to crash-land on the only semi-habitable planet in the sector. Although connection was quickly re-established with the Imperial Union, Vorak II was doomed from the start to be a backwater colony of little value. Its mineral value is only moderate at best, and the constant earthquakes, thin atmosphere, and high gravity make it an ill-advised investment for any mining company wanting to take an interest. In recent times, the only worthwhile industry on the colony has been its geological research, but some criminals also move here to hide from the prying eyes of more populated star systems. Many individuals still remain here, either descendants of the original colonists or wanderers who found nowhere left to go. The atmosphere is dismal, but whether out of stubbornness or something else, there are those who still take pride in their dusty little backwater colony.
