The Auldoorlog
A militant order of druids that tries to preserve the sanctity and neutrality of nature.
Divine Origins
The Auldoorlog is old. It most probably predates the Hellscream War. However, about thirty years after the conclusion of the war Braghten Darkwater arrived on the scene and began to radicalize its doctrines. His movement was slow and he did experience resistance at first, however, he has enjoyed an inordinately long life and his influence has grown significantly since taking over the order a decade ago.
Tenets of Faith
Nature is at war with civilization and the Auldoorlog is nature’s champion. The All-Father is dead. His complacency was his undoing. He was deceived by Astoreth because he was too permissive of man’s designs to build cities where they could ignore him and trick themselves into thinking they didn’t need the All-Father. Balhut’s leadership has also been found deficient as witnessed by the current state of the world. Civilization was allowed to go unchecked and the forces of Blackthorne and the cities of the East nearly destroyed the world and unleashed unspeakable evils, like the undead and evil humanoids. The Hellscream War was wrought as a punishment for Balhut’s indulgence of civilization. In Sylvanus alone is there hope of the supremacy of nature being restored. Civilization, must be held at its current level, and new settlements in the forest must be prevented. New settlers should be discouraged from moving east, by indoctrination into the ways of the Auldoorlog, if possible. Charm and compulsion magic should be used on those who cannot see the proper order of nature. Those who prove resistant to charm and compulsion magic should be driven out by the slaying of their livestock and the destruction of their invasive crops. Direct violence against settlers should be avoided except in protection of life, but if they starve because of their refusal to leave, then that is merely a reestablishment of the natural order. Members of the Auldoorlog should avoid civilization and its corrupting influences.
