Aquitaine

A city state that emerged after the destruction of the Teuton Empire. As the largest port city of the Teuton Empire, Aquitaine retained a large amount of power after the fall as many of the Tueton nobles had relocated to Aquitaine durring the Arcane War, that once Tueton fell, the power shifted to Aquitaine.   As chaos decended on the fallen empire, Aquataine became one of the few relitivly calm locations. Tribes in the north wared against each other, and took to raiding the more prosperous south. The Southern provences began to compete for who would come out as the new seat of the Empire, and all through this Aquitaine remained the seat of the nobles and a somewhat protected city. Their navy was enough to deter attacks from the north, and their location as a main trade hub kept the southern provences at bay.   Aquitaine's main rival is the southern city state of Carlyle. The two cities compete for shipping contracts from the nations south of the Old Empire. Aquitaine retains more prestige in the Old Empire as they are the main port for the northern nations to trade with the southern nations, as well as to send goods overland to Carlyle for shipping south.   They are close allies with Angiers who depend on the markets in Aquitaine to sell the gems mined out of the mountains that ring the Angiven desert. Currently Aquitaine maintans trade relations with the northern nations and Heorot, but in the past has been at war with Pictholm and Heorot.
