Waymein

Shortly after the Light was shattered, Waymein emerged from the boarders between light and darkness. He found Oun in the light, Zaklaka in the Dark, and Mekiele dancing around them. In this time before time he became their messenger, traversing the boarders of their domains. As more gods emerged, Waymein brought them to the Empyrean Temple.   With the rise of mortals and Aunvyn's ascension to the Ivory Throne, his primary purpose became the safe passage of souls to the underworld. He is also responsible for returning souls in times of resurrections or reincarnations.

Worshipers

Colloquially known as the Grey Friars or the Ravens, the primary organization of worship for Waymein is the Church of the Messenger. In ritual, priests tend to grey or ashen robes, leading to their nickname. Adornments include raven, or occasionally owl, feathers. The church offers funerary services to the public, caring for cemeteries and potter's fields. They can also arrange for mourners when needed, keeping track of who is available and arranging bookings.   A number of mystery cults also exist throughout Anvimar with their own beliefs and practices. Some more radical than others.

Undead

Many undead have no souls and so are of no special consideration to Waymein or his followers. Zombies, skeletons, and flame skulls, for example, are simply reanimated and bar no natural passage of the soul. Others, such as vampires and liches, are a point of debate. Some of the mystery cults take a solid stance against all undead, determining that they must all be destroyed and their souls freed. Others wish to assist undead unable to leave the mortal plane to resolve the issues keeping them chained. The Church of the Messenger takes no official stance beyond that of the civilizations they operation within.

Depictions

Waymein is often depicted as a hooded figure with a fan of over-sized raven feathers behind him. In one hand he holds a broken sword, in the other a flail. The sword is representative of swords and other weapons buried with soldiers and men-of-war, which are often destroyed in the burial practice of Korinthia so that they might die and pass with the owner. The flail is Waymein's weapon to beat back demons and devils as they attempt to steal souls.   Due to these depictions swords and flails are favoured weapons amongst his followers. Priests will carry a ceremonial blade if nothing else.
