Kawalago - Giant Elves

The Giant Elves or High Elves, live closest to the God Tree Ilyamir and protect it. Secluded, high users of magic, the Kawalago can innately access the powers of the Spirit Realm as well as communicate through the roots of Ilyamir that can be found everywhere in the powder coast.
The Kawalago innate ability to teleport through trees lets them climb up their otherwise inaccessible tree cities close to the trunk of Ilyamir.
The Kawalago can communicate through the magic network of Ilyamir's roots, making them excellent coordinators for warbands of Kijolago and Kanilago that are often recruited in incursion up the Maztican peninsula.
The Kawalago consider themselves closest to the Cemi (Gods) of all mortals. They have a strong concept of hierarchy, with families of higher power living higher up the giant tree trunks offshoots of Ilyamir. The high priest and their family actually living up the trunk of the All Tree. They often dress is extravagant red cloathing, piercings and headdresses of gold found in the Ilyamir forests. They are used to command the respect of other Elven communities, very accustomed to war and often have trouble interacting with other communities in peaceful ways.
The Kawalago usually have copper or dark brown skin, which they often paint with red dyes. Their eyes are often light tones of green or hazel. Their hair is often silky black or brown.

The tragedy of the Näwi

Every so often a blue-eyed Kawalago is born. Given the global enmity of all nations with the ravaging Maelkin, a blue-eyed Kawalago is seen as an Omen of horrible things to come. Often they are cast out of their communities, pushed out of Ilyamir forest; forced to abandon the name of Kawalago and take on the title of Impure, or Näwi. If any Kawalago is found outside of the forests, is often Näwi or descendants of the same. A few of the Näwi find work among the settlement of Antiguans, where their big physiques can become profitable and where the knowledge of their culture (and hence judgment) is minimal. The most ignorant of Antiguans confuse them with Woekin, because of their huge statures and blue eyes.

Traits

Ability Score Increase

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

Age

Kawalago reach maturity around age 15 and can live up to 160 years.

Size

Kawalago are around 7 to 9 feet tall, and weight between 200 and 240 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception and Survival skills.

Fey Ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Trance

Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

The Old Roads

Choose a Large or larger plant that you can see within 120 feet. As a bonus action you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the plant. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses of this ability when you finish a short or long rest.

One with the All-Tree Ilyamir

You know the location of and can communicate telepathically with any elves (lagokin) or fey within 600 feet of you, as long as you are within 60 feet of any living and connected portion of the All-Tree. Any creature that is aware of this link, may choose to be undetectable and unreachable through these means (no action required).

Note to the DM Almost anywhere with nature, plants and trees in the powder coast has a living and connected portion of the AllTree. Its roots are everywhere, and it expresses itself in different types of plants and trees. The roots even go deep underground and underwater; corals and huge sea anemone all connected to it. Unless far from any forested area, sea floor or in any other locations completely deserted of nature, Kawalago should have access to their ability to communicate long distance.
