Malafe lore

Inagua (island where town of malafe is) has feral donkeys and goats as well as various species of turtles. The reef protects it from larger ships that don’t know the area from coming in too close. Porto Malafe’s population was transitory, doubling and halving with ships. Permanent residents on the island where around the 300, centered in town but also in the farms on the north. Malafe and Baneque’s villages were heavily interconnected and boats made their way back and forth between the channel.
Baneque Island (next to malafe) has a population of less than 1500 people among the villages, but of 80,000 flamingoes and other birds. Baneque is full of lakes, and has large salt banks that used by locals (could expand a lot). Apart from salt, the people of Baneque also fish, farm cassava, fruits and there is a small clay deposit.
