The Crossing acts as a stop gap between the two halves of the world, the weather systems basically overcharge each side throughout the year. Weather in the old world builds pressure as the air flows in from the new world until a high enough pressure builds. The process reverses causing air to flow into the new world and the process repeats itself.
Ao’s relatively fast rotation builds up energy in the west, which is slowly absorbed in by the eternal storm in Itiba called The Eye. As pressure builds in the west, massive storms spew from the Eye and as the energy spun by Eye equals that of winds pushed by rotation, the middle point of the system explodes in horizontally rolling storms systems called Arcus Storms. When the pressure builds up enough in the west then the process switches for a shorter time and the currents change to flow east, this culminates in another climax of eastward rolling Arcus storms. The same build up energy happens in the opposite direction, and culminates in another climax of rolling Arcus Storms, this time rolling towards the east; by the end of this the winds shifts once again west and the cycle starts again.

Eastwind: Jan - Apr (4 months)
- January to February: Winds pick up and start flowing towards the east, Itiban goods of smokepowder, cacao, sugar, gold and tobacco make their way to the old world.
- March to April: Storms build up in the west coast of Andalusia, Tigris and in the Tarkonnis Ocean, making landing in Antigua more dangerous, trade shifts to within the Antiguan side of Ao, as Itiban goods make their way from the west Antigua to the far east.
Summer Climax: May (1 month)
The crossing becomes a vortex and Arcus Storms pull anything from the west and roll out towards the east from The Crossing, intensifying towards the end of may.
Dead Summer Day marks the start of the resupply and migration season to the west.
Westwind: Jun-Nov (6 months)
- June to August: Westward winds start picking up and start the flow of colonists, supply ships and manufactured goods. Itiba is flooded with construction materials, ironwood, slaves and luxuries. Counter flow in Itiba creates Eddies that make travel south dangerous, forcing most vessels north towards Porto Bello, Rhenkdor or Port Honor.
- September to November: Trade dwindles as The Eye stars spewing storms that come from the north east and travel all throughout the coast wrecking havoc. Travel in Itiba comes to a full stop, ships staying in harbor for repairs and to weather the end of the year.
Vortex Season (1 month) Dec
Arcus Storms roll towards the west, concluding with
Dead Winter Day right at the end of the year. New year starts with the winds kicking up east, and the start of the trading season.
Arcus Storms
Rolling horizontal clouds move towards the wind side of the season
Winds pull in non storm side into the vortex
Push out storm side away from vortex
At the end of the vortex season, air becomes dead.
Super trade, inbetween rolling clouds
