Bioid
The Bioid is a general term for semi-sentient deep sea creatures affected by Deep-Sea Gigantsim that were manipulated by Syreni to serve as vehicles or living spaces. They can be used as ordinary cars, or big transporters and are more than an ordinary occurance inside and out of the City of Aogua.
Their kind of species have a huge range but species from the Phylum of the Mollusca is preferred, especially types of octopi and squids.
Every Syreni can create a Bioid, they just need to be thrifty, knowledgable or strong enough to get inside of one of these creatures and make themselves a home in a pocket of their body without damaging vital functions.
The problem lies in controlling a Bioid. Because they are semi-sentient themselves and not machines, it takes a skilled Pilot to know how to manipulate such a being. Either by zapping around in their higher functions (which is looked down upon and highly dangerous) or by knowing how to set up rewards and situations that steer the Bioid into the right direction, into attacking, swimming, keeping still or eating.
There are supposed to be Syreni with the ability to communicate with Bioid's directly but that is more of a myth than a fact and is connected to a spiritual believe amongst some Syreni that all things are living and special oracle's can communicate with them, be their fish, coral or stone.
Because of the diffictulty of piloting a Bioid, Pilots are highly priced and are in most cases much more expensive to come by than a Bioid itself which you could in theory just create yourself by subduing, entering and changing a suitable creature with a group of soldiers and the right equipment.
Another hurdle is the "interior design". If you don't want to kill the Bioid and make its innards liavable, it is wise to hire a specialist. These can be also expansive and they are useful to have on your team as a permanent member because Bioid's are living beings who grow, grow old, get sick and just change in general. And as you go you would likely want to expand your space inside the Biod as well which will need further expertise.
So, even if a Bioid can be quite cheaply to come by, to keep it and make it work, money would be of quite some help. And this help can get very expansive.
But this mostly relates to larger Bioid's used in transportation. There are also Bioids which are "mass-manufactured", smaller and used as everyday vehicles to get from one spot to the other inside of a city. These Bioids are easier to handle and are cared for and managed by the cities transportation management.
