Maculosus fungarus, nicknamed Ballendur's blood, is a red-capped mushroom known by all that live on Aolara. It grows in abundance wherever the climate remains moderately warm and has a consistent amount of rainfall. The most likely places to find this mushroom is in the marshlands, swamps, jungles, and even boggy grasslands throughout the rainy season. Ballendur's blood are white stemmed with a deep crimson coloured cap speckled with a handful of golden flecks. It is these golden flecks that allow foragers and gatherers to discern Ballendur's blood from some of it's more poisonous cousins.
Ballendur's blood is sometimes referred to as the dying man's jewel. It is a natural resource sought after by herbalists and alchemists alike. This golden dotted mushroom contains a unique property that makes it one of several integral ingredients for the creation of healing potions.
