The Iron Empire

T

he Iron Empire rests on the eastern side of Aerath, one of the largest continents in Aonus. Viewed by those outside of the Empire as barbaric and warmongering, it has done nothing to quell this perception. While to most the ways of the Iron Empire and the Jaesi people seem harsh and blood thirsty there is no denying that they are an honorable people in their own right. Throughout the centuries the Empire has gone from a relatively scattered people to a united front, building some of the strongest fortifications and most powerful machines of war. Like Rebeorynn, the Empire also hosts its own college of magic centered in its capital city of Issonard , located to the north near the Dragontooth Mountains. While many think of the Iron Empire as a dark place with harsh living conditions, this couldn't be further from the truth. Many of the Empire's cities are lavish and welcoming with all the amenities afforded by trade.

Public Agenda

Emperor Darkmourne's predecessor made it his goal to shore up the defenses of the Empire and keep his citizenry safe. There was a period of seclusion from other parts of the world, barring the exceptions to establish trading vessels and routes, and there wasn't much known about the goings on of the Empire. However, since Emperor Darkmourne took over he has slowly been making it his mission to reach out to the surrounding city-states and nations, notably Mael Taesi, to start opening up talks for further trade and cooperation.

History

Founded in 841 B.C. after a brutal war of unification led by one of the local chieftains at the time, the Iron Empire has grown to be one of the largest and most powerful kingdoms with Aonus. Throughout it's infancy it had to contend with many threats. Raiders, pirates, and native creatures that wanted nothing but to kill and feed. This led to the Empire adopting a very militaristic way of life that was only strengthened as the threat from the west. The Empire knew that Rebeorynn has always wanted to control the entirety of the continent, having needed to repel the invaders a few times in the early centuries of their existence. It culminated to what would eventually be known as The Heartseeker's War and The Cataclysm.
