Burlam Flashpoints

A Time of Changes...

  • The Vampire King of Aorlis, master of secret, undead nation, has his primary fortress in Tanikton, Burlam. This castle is hidden, and the vampires are not to be trifled with. He does not meddle with the royalty and nobles of the Marcelle, but he does treat humans as his personal resource. The human world, as it stands, does not have the resources to find or unseat the Vampire King.
  • Berghdollian—The island principality is independent, but once it belonged to Aorlis, and it would take little provocation for Aorlis to arm a fleet and invade it. The emperor has a blood claim to Bhergdollian, but it is just as likely that Burlami colonialists or Free Reavers would try to make this island their own.
  • The Sky Brotherhood up until now has lived in quiet co-existence with the Church, but if a strong leader rose within their order, he would likely burn all the churches, do away with the cleric class, and return their official faith to the groves, streams, and lakes of deep history. Current Sky Brotherhood attend Church to save face, but secretly practice their own faith.
  • Burlami Colonialism—Burlam is swiftly becoming a world power, and has colonized multiple offshore lands. They financed their expansion with money from the king of Marcelle, the Emperor of Aorlis, the papal states in Kaidlorr, and the Starshaven Merchant League. The League and the Church enjoy direct access and advantages within these states, although Burlam tends to treat them as part of a burgeoning Burlami empire, not as vassals to Marcelle and Aorlis. This will have to be resolved, because the Marcelle and Aorlis see those colonial efforts as part of their expansion, not Burlam as its own power. Their current holdings are DeRoche, Circularium, and Novelum.
