The Innocents
One of the 5 main factions of the governing bodies of Ixbaezia, the Innocents consist of those who reject their exile and feel they were wrongly cast from society. A majority of this faction is made up of Magi whose research and experiments bordered on the foul. They were deemed too dangerous and banished to the Desolation. Their arrival in Ixbaezia was a breath of fresh air since no one cared how dangerous their experiments could get. These Magi believed their new forms of quintessence manipulation can make society better and without regulation they can pursue these ideals more vehemently. With a city that didn't care what they did but cared about what they could produce, the Innocents use their research to push Ixbaezia into the future. They work towards proving those who cast them out wrong. Those who are not gifts help out the Magi in other ways by participating as subjects in experiments or assisting in gathering needed materials.
Structure
There is no real organized structure to the Innocents. When the heads of the faction meet, the Magi with the most amount of free time is sent on behalf of the faction. Those who have met the most success in research do have more pull among the innocents then those who are new or who have failed consistently.
Religion
Like most of Ixbaezia, they follow Safokang and perform her rite regularly to grant them protection and warmth in the cold desolation. However, they don't treat their prayer like religion, it is closer to a tradition passed down since the founding of the city. They pray to her name, but there are no statues or temple dedicated to their goddess. The people of Ixbaezia have never known anything more about their goddess, she was a name lost to the ages and a face even further gone. The presence of Safokang plays less of a role among the Innocents since most of them are gifted and cannot channel. Although some still perform the rite in ceremony alone out of respect for the city.
