Influences of Yamato philosophers like Aoyama Gintoshi spark new waves in the beliefs and studies of enlightenment the Sages and their acolytes conduct, and they begin to take a dark turn, doubting the Great Clockwork.   As their belief that the Great Clockwork is in fact holding mankind back begins to grow, they employ great magics to cut the island of Jamphel Yeshe off and turn it into a Clockwork exclusion zone. The immortal Sages turn to stone at the shores of the island, immutable, forever frozen in place.   With their masters petrified and their final dark words echoing across the island, the acolytes of the Grand sages fall into disarray.
