Brotherhood of the Flame
This is a monastic Brotherhood that is devoted to worshiping The Firelord Basileus. They center their organization near volcanoes, lava flows and other similar areas.
Structure
The Brotherhood is organized into six circles. Only the highest three circles actually know any details of the real organization.
Culture
The members all fell under the spell of Basileus. They believe that he is the Avatar of the respective fire god that they worship whether it's Bleredd, Pyr'rin, Ferrakus, Linium, Kossuth, Scalan, and many others.
Public Agenda
The Brotherhood is like a fraternity of miners, smiths, and other craftsmen that center around the use of fire in one way or another. They work for the common good and support the members and their families and the people as a whole. Men are the majority of the members, but at times females are allowed into the group.
Assets
The members tithe to the Brotherhood for its upkeep and to help themselves and others in need.
History
The Brotherhood began as a small underground association of friends but is now spread far and wide.
Disbandment
They have been rooted out in a few temples when corruption was discovered, but they are better at hiding now. They change names and locations often and pop up in new locations all the time.
Mythology & Lore
The legends say that the fire god Kossuth, God of Fire sent some of his children (fire elementals) to live with the dwarves, to bring them closer to their god.
Divine Origins
The group of fire elementals that live in the heart of the mountain on Volcanus called to Basileus to intervene for them with Asmodeus to open a way home to the Plane of Fire. In answer, he sent Basileus to organize them in raising power to open a gate.
This was the beginning, after they made a pact with the clerics and royal family, they were set. The elementals created the Brotherhood and through their followers spread their larva to the other inhabitants that lived near the volcano.
