Forest Egg
Bryan, a young forest gnome, found a rainbow-colored fist-sized “rock” in the forest. It was in a strange-looking glade, in the deep forest along the northern central highlands. He liked it so he took it home.
After two years of sitting in front of his fireplace, his dog knocked it over while playing. It rolled into the fire. When the fire was burned down and the rock had cooled, he noticed that the surface had changed color to a deep green with scale-like cracks covering its surface.
A week later it started rocking and making chirping noises. At dawn, it cracked open and a head popped out, then it finally emerged. A wingless jungle drake crawled out.
She looks like a drake but because she was separated from the pack, partly developed in a Fae glade near a nexus and finished developing in a forest gnome home where love abounds. She learned loving and compassionate tendencies. Bryan, his siblings, Denver (his dog) and the hunting pack (dogs) raised Ambrys (drake) to be a useful part of society.
She joined the dog kennel when she grew too large for his home. Gradually learning to obey the Alpha and his Betas, finding her place and where she belonged. Over the years, she rose up in the pecking order and grew into her adult drake size of 10 feet. When she neared her adult size, she challenged the Alpha and won, becoming the new leader of the pack.
