Guardians of Talavera
Following Amara's discovery of Wadi Talavera, a unique tradition blossomed--the Guardians of Wadi Talavera. These aren't just caretakers; they are similar to a monastic order dedicated to the oasis's perpetual health and prosperity.
The first Guardians were the children of Amara Talavera, they were born and raised within the oasis's embrace and became the first Guardians Each of her four sons married and founded their clans. Afterward, the chieftains of each clan take up the duty of guarding and upkeeping the oasis. They call themselves the Guardians of Talavera, the chieftain and his direct family live at the oasis for four years.
When the four years are complete, the next chieftain takes his turn. This rotation was put in place by Amara herself. She stayed at the oasis for the first few rotations. Then she left the responsibilities to her sons and their families.
The few permanent buildings here are set aside for the Guardians and the upkeep of the oasis. There is even a brewery where the guardians watch to age alcohol for the tribe, still rooms are set aside for the creation, storage, and aging of medicinal supplies.
Structure
This is a family structure, the father is the head, the mother, and then the children. Each member is tested for aptitude and that is where they work. The firstborn son of Amara Talavera is the head of the guardians. Each tribe has a specialty: weaving, hunting, brewing, medicine, foraging, agriculture, aquaculture, etc.
They function as a cohesive unit, with each family specializing in a specific area. Knowledge is shared openly, ensuring collective wisdom is preserved. The rotation guarantees fresh perspectives and fosters continuous improvement of their methods. A log is kept by each of the member when they are at the Oasis.
