Light Stone
This stone is similar to light wood, except that it is mined from the the floating islands of the Skylands Continent. The best stones are taken from the upper reaches of the Skylands.
Properties
Material Characteristics
The consistency is like pumice but is as hard as granite.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Since the majority of the stone in the Skylands is now light stone, it is one of the most common building materials in use today. It is often used in the building of large edifices and buildings. This is what was used to create the floating bridges and soaring buildings throughout Skylandia and other cities. It is a cheap material here, but if it is bought by a mainlander, the price is elevated. One drawback to this is that its ability to float doesn't last once it leaves the Skylands.
Geology & Geography
It is found throughout the Skylands, both above and belowground.
Origin & Source
When the raising happened, the stones took on special properties that allowed them to float through the air. These stones are part of what keeps the islands floating in the upper atmosphere. This stone can be brittle or strong depending on how it's cut. An inexperienced hand can shatter it if he's not careful.
Life & Expiration
In the Skylands, this stone can stay in its present state forever, but if it leaves and goes to the surface, its floating ability gradually fades.
History & Usage

The first person to mine the stone was Galvin Earthspike, as he started loading the cart with the cut stone, is when he noticed that it was different from other stones. He brought others to the face that he was cutting so that more stone could be cut and with better skill.
