History
Before the Chaos Wars, Slithorn were a lizard worshiping swamp tribe that lived on Slithoria When the war was at its worst, during a lizard dance, a wild magic storm hit. All the participants were affected. Some immediately, others not until the next full moon and a rare few didn’t have the trait appear but passed it to their children. The mutation varied depending on the tribe, inclination, and nearness to lizards. Because of the predatory nature of the lizards was so strong it all but subsumed their humanity. Many of the lizardfolk became violent and warlike as a result.
Their cousins on the Nagpur side of Lemuria had a similar effect but with snakes. After their transformation, they both became very territorial and began fighting for territory and resources, even over the Holy Island of Takshila.
So came the war. Lizard vs Snake. Their draconic cousins on the nearby island of Hy-Dracora eventually enforced a peace before they destroyed each other. They created a neutral zone around the holy lake of Takshila. The Goddess Devangara created the winged naga in her image to be protectors of the peace around the holy lake.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Few mammals are befriended by lizardfolk. However, they place great store in friendships and alliances, among their own kind and with other races. Although they may be frequently hostile to humanoids, lizardfolk are not without honor. They have long memories, remembering both the good and ill done to them. They treat others as others treat them. If a human is fair and honorable, even if he is an enemy, lizardfolk treat him with the same respect. If an outsider manages to befriend a lizardfolk, the bond will last until the trust is betrayed.
