Logan Bread
This bread is nutrient-dense: it has bulk, weight, calories, nutrition, shelf life, and good taste. It is like a cross between a brownie and bread, a good-tasting energy bar—better than hardtack, or pemmican. Many travelers prefer this dish to many other travel foods.
There are various recipes for this bread, it is very forgiving of changes. Most variations of this tasty bread include some of the same ingredients, such as flour, molasses, nuts, and dried fruits.
Manufacturing process
- Mix all dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix your wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
- Combine the two bowls, and mix well until it looks like a cookie batter.
- Once it is well mixed, fold in your mix-ins.
- Spread your batter evenly into a greased pan.
- Bake in a medium hot oven (300 deg) for about 1 hour.
- Cut your bread into squares while warm.
- For longer-lasting bread, you can return the bread to the oven on the lowest setting with the door slightly open. This will dry out the bread even more.
