Maelstrum

Maelstrus created the Maelstrum through his control of water. In his madness after the loss of his mate and family, he believed that by killing other sentient lifeforms that he could open up another portal to the Plane of Water and either go through or bring his family through. He doesn't know how many he needs to kill, so he is continually on a search for more to lure into his enormous Maelstrum. In his madness, he kills indiscriminately, not caring who he kills. At the beginning he at least tried to kill evil beings and criminals, he especially targeted Atlanteans and their dark creations.

Manifestation

The Maelstrum is a colossal supernatural whirlpool that can appear almost anywhere on the open ocean of Aquatica. It is like a natural whirlpool in that it is a body of rotating water, but that is where the similarities end. Maelstrus, travels the ocean searching for dimensional weak points to, anchor his Maelstrum to. When he senses a strong collection of life force, he centers himself over the focal point and starts the water spinning. He stays at the bottom like an aquatic ant lion, sucking the ship to the bottom, then he drains those that he catches and stores them for future need.

Localization

Maelstrus, travels the ocean searching for dimensional weak points to, anchor his Maelstrum to. It must be close to population areas or trade routes.
