Manari (Chattel)

Manari can be of any species, be they humanoid or animal. They are mindless chattel/slaves of Regina, queen of all hive-like vermin. Such as bees, ants, Fomorian, spiders, etc. They are often used as ambassadors, messengers, or menial slaves. They are controlled by a drone that burrows into their ear, nose or the base of the spine. These drones are a link to the queen through an ansible telepathic link.

This condition is not infectious.

Causes

A manari drone needs to be placed on the victim before it can take control.

Symptoms

The pupil of the eye gains a glowing green center.

Treatment

A remove disease spell will kill the parasite.

Prognosis

If the parasite is left too long, it will eventually merge with the spinal cord. If this occurs, the brain of the drone subsumes the personality and will of the host and they become one.

Sequela

If left until the final stage, the parasite is inseparable from the host as they have merged. Killing one will kill both.

Affected Groups

Manari can affect almost any species or animal. Although, Astralus and Atlanteans are more resistant to implantation and Seafolk because manari are scared of seawater (it kills them).

A rare few females can become nursery hosts to manari young.
