Sir Barnaby the Teddy Bear
Barnaby is my well-worn teddy bear. I've had him since I was a child. Initially, he had soft and curly hair, but now it's a patchwork of soft, loved-down patches. He's been my confidant, protector, and silent companion for my young life.
He isn't conventionally soft, as his fur is thinning in places revealing his stuffing, and his ears now droop sadly. His remaining softness was borne of countless cuddles, whispered secrets, and tears absorbed by his fabric. He was there through all of my aches and pains, highs and lows. In most of my memories, he was there.
His creator wove protection spells into Barnaby, imbued with the magic of moonlight and stardust, moonflower seeds, and laughter from playful fairies. When his eyes soaked in the moonlight of the special night they awoke with life. He was imbued with loyalty to Iris, became her confidant, and her protector.
