The Adventures of Delver Orlin Briros
This is the Legend of Delver Orlin Briros and his travels exploring the Skylands with his boots of Island Jumping.
Summary
Delver Orlin was the first, or at least the most well-known of the Sky Jumpers, explorers of the Skylands. Early in his travels, he found a pair of worn-looking boots. After trying them on, he found them very comfortable. He was very surprised when as he took his first step, he traveled miles away with only scarce thought about where he wanted to go.
Historical Basis
His job was to explore the Skylands and to find new resources for the population of his home island. He was constantly exploring for this purpose and because he loved the wild outdoors. These travels became legendary and no one actually knew how he traveled to other islands. They presumed it was by magic or one type or another type of flying or gliding contraptions.
[His boots were created by the Demi-God of Travel Oscar Fenwick, although he didn't know this at the time until years later. Oscar is a high-level mage and an Aurach'n demi-god of Travel. He makes many magic items pertaining to travel and often leaves them around for others to find or gives them away.]
Spread
This legend is mostly only known in the Skylands, possibly the Treelands.
Variations & Mutation
This item can be found in different colors, limitation, or distance variations.
Cultural Reception
The story is revered by the commoners and working-class but ignored or scoffed at by the well-to-do. Most people don't know about this item.
In Literature
A young Dieter Brightstone, witnessed Orlin landing in an out of the way location, decided to tell his story. Eventually, a song/ballad was made about the incident and his further adventures.
Other famous explorers have at one time or another been in possession of these boots besides Delver Orlin Urigrim Briros.
What is interesting about this item, is that it "leaves" the present owner when it isn't needed anymore for someone that needs it.
