The Ordu
The Ordu are an elite unit of shock troops for the Atlantean Guard. They are mostly composed of natural shapechanging berserkers, commonly bear, wolf, and other large animal types. They were often sent first in battles to “soften” up the front line of the enemy.
They were also paid extremely well. They usually got the first pick of the spoils because of their increased risk of going first. Some even claimed the bodies of the slain as their trophies.
The Ordu are trained from childhood with the skills that they would need in battle. Over the years they were toughened up to become resistant to pain, know how to use their shapechanging, natural abilities and weapons to their best advantage. They are taught that their body is a weapon and manufactured weapons and armor are just tools to be used or not.
They strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. Just their howl freezes them in their tracks. Most of the Ordu are 7-9 ft tall, so many of their opponents are one size or smaller than them.
Composition
Manpower
The Atlantean Guard shock troops are called Ordu, they can be calvary (de Harcos) or infantry (de Mora). The calvary number 40, and the infantry 80 or more depending on their use and the size of the battle.
Equipment
Since the Ordu are shock troops their armor is meant to throw fear into their enemies. Their armor and weapons are usually heavy and very deadly, although some only use what nature has given them. This equipment is usually colored green, blue, red, or black.
Weaponry
The Ordu prefer the use of melee weapons, as they consider ranged weapons to be cowardly. They type of weapon can be specific to each individual. Some prefer edged weapons, others blunt, or even their natural weapons. Short spears and polearms can be used but never thrown.
Vehicles
Some of the Ordu are skilled in the use of chariots. Some of the calvary use horses, but these are usually too skittish for these carnivores. Their mounts are usually bears, bulls, war bulls, etc.
