Brunhilde
Hw. Brunhilde Ackner (a.k.a. The Shortened)
Hw. Brunhilde is a Hallow of Arawn.
During the siege at the city of Weybruck, Brunhilde was allowed, with a small party of other neutral parties, to enter the town to administer aid. The besieging army, however, stipulated that nothing may be brought into or out of the city walls. To enforce this, they weighed the cart entering and leaving the gates of the city on its weigh-bridge.
Once inside the down, Brunhilde encountered a mother unable to feed her child and desperate to get it to safety. The mother implored Brunhilde to take the innocent away with her lest it would die. Aware of the restrictions of the siege, but unwilling to let an innocent die in such a way, Brunhilde agreed. To pass the weighing test, she cut off her own feet to balance out the weight of the child. Hiding the bleeding whilst passing out of the city, she smuggled the child beneath her clothes.
She then began to raise the dwarf child as her own, struggling due to the lack of feet. In recognition of her sacrificed, she was hallowed by Arawn and given the gift of a pair of boots enabling her to stand, walk and run. It is said the wearer of the boots will never fall.
