Session 27: Rescue Archangel + Visit Mage Guild

General Summary

Rescue of Archangel, In the Warehouse

Invisibility is gone. Change of plans. We continue to fight the other adventuring group.
  • Thoradin and Cernan take out the second twin.
  • Stormy and Shimmer take out the mage. But Stormy is super sad to take out one of her people. Then takes out the dwarven ranger. (both in 1 turn)
  • Rashid takes out the dragon born. Who was spored.
  • Warehouse cleared
  • Before We Leave the Warehouse

  • Thoradin and Cernan take a potion of greater healing.
  • Rashid casts invisibility again on Shimmer and Lyda Tyfalim - Archangel
  • Loot the adventurers.
  • Tabaxi was also spored. And Stormy feels sick about it.
  • We don't need the food reward promised (that we think is a farce anyway). The less attention the better. So when we head out we tell the guard, "Yeah I'll send in the next crew." Thordin scares the next crew by telling how bad it was.  

    Lyda Rescued and Rest

    We head to the Thieves and Assassins Guild with Lyda. There, we chat with Princess Prentis Leon. We catch her and Lyda up.  

    Lyda's Archangel background

    Lyda has a few bags of holding and used for food and weapons. Worked great until the building she was in got surrounded. She survived the trap that the guild put on her. The old master didn't want other races to advance.   She was to copy pages out of Lord Cormal's log. While she was there, there was a mohagany box with a lock. That's probably where she went wrong. Took too long to pick the lock. Inside was this medallion - an amulet. It's a dragon eating it's tail. She goes out and escapes. She couldn't go back to the guild - they'd set her up.  

    Discovery of Mordin's Holy Symbol and Shimmer Gets Her Wings

    Shimmer is fixated on the amulet. Shimmer kind of recognizes it. Shimmer knows it has a name but can't remember the amulet's name.   Cernan thinks it's a holy symbol. Rashid takes a look at it too - says it's spiritual of some kind. An ancient magic.   Shimmer hears a song. We can't hear it. We ask her to sing along. She's purring from deep within.   Cernan prays to see if we can get guidance on it. Lyda's had a lot of strange dreams - can't remember the name of the creature she saw in her dreams.   Thoradin looks to see what it's made of. Like white gold. Surface has an ivory look to it. Back looks like dragon scales.   Cita tries to see if it opens. She says it feels cool.   Rashid detects magic -- all types of magic, it's like a rainbow. Kind of muted. Like it's behind a piece of smoked glass. Something else would bring out it's power.   The symbol doesn't fit into the pantheon that we know.   Cernan touches his symbol to it. The amulets are harmonizing. He wants to sleep touching the amulet. (Long rest.)   Cernan had a vision of the diety represented by a humanoid with a traingular head. Almost like a salamander person than a dragon. It told him his name. But Cernan couldn't remember. White on red. Lyda says, "You've seen him too!"   Shimmer touches the symbol. It's hard for her to let go. It's sooo important.   Rashid does archana check. He can read anything. The image - IS a rune, an old one. He reads it aloud "Mordin." Poof.   The world shatters. Intense magic washes over everyone. As it fades away. There is no glass over the amulet. It's a magic holy symbol.   Shimmer's missing. Shimmer's hovering with wings.  
    The overwhelming magic - we absorlbed part of it. We get to add the new dice to any roll and then turn it in.
      The name is unchained. Shimmer remembers the name. It's papa! She's happy as a clam - jsut flying.   Mordin is NOT the little yellow bird. (We heard his name - but we forgot it.) Garreth who taught Rashid--somebody told him to wait there for somebody. A little yellow bird brought Rashid to him.  
    Mordin - god of archana, tempest, trickery, and luck. And Rashid unlocked him in this world.
      Are there more tokens to unlock.  

    Mage Guild

    We've rested. It's dark out. We need to go to the mage guild. Shimmer walks beside Rashid, so he can look impressive.   As Rashid approaches. There's runes on the wall, freshly carved. Someone's making a barrier spell to cover the guild. Not complete yet. He's not quite sure - but it looks like a strong barrier. Wizards barracading and not leaving any time soon. Rashid knocks on the door. Convinces them to open.   We have the book, Animated Armor, to return. Parnathyn Gurd checked it out 132 years ago. We share his journal, too.   The wizards want to hole up. They've done it before and will do it again.   Stormy and Cernan pray. Cernan asks the wizards if they know what's going on outside the walls. They know it's Amanita.   The wizards: Diggary Stanton and Master Tornik Belweather.  
    Arabeth: goddess of light, nature, life, peace.
      Mordin - was released. The mages ask, "Was that the distrubance in magic?"   Rashid says, "You're welcome." We have their attention now at the mention of releasing the magic and Mordin.   The new mages in the room are:
  • Arch Mage Sirus Ophanter
  • Master Ken Hillbark
  • Lady Grasslin
  • Mage Laurence Olivar,
  • (12 total in the room and ther scribe.)
  • Shimmer lands in the middle of them.   Rashid says , "I spoke Mordin's name for the first time in hundreds of years."   Lawrence sayd, "More like 1,000 years."   Shimmer says he's papa.   The mages say, "We can't have another Frostgrave. This world can't lose magic."   We are getting farther talking to them about Mordin. It's important to them.   We tell them about Arabeth's vision.   What does Grasslin see? That we beleive what we are saying.   Cita accuses them of being sponges - ony taking from the city. Cernan says what is the good of hiding when magic is needed.   Mastet Ken says I was saying the same thing yesterday!   The arch mage says, "You have spoken well Could we interest you in refereshments while we have a counsel?" The wizards bring us a lavish luncheon.   (Rashid has a beard now.)   We hear shouting and murmurs - heated discussion. Then they call us back in. "We have agreed to hold off on the barrier and aid Alador with our strength."  

    Mage Guild Will Join Us

    Now they are listening. What should we do to prepare?
  • The Amanita religion not compatible with magic
  • The darness pyre might be a point of attack. More of the spiritual than the arcane.
  • for many ages the gods existed but not shown the power we saw yesterday
  • Have you visted the Cathedral? We don't know what's happening in the arena. It's been mentioned at the Cathedral is where poeple take the oath.
  • Temple of Mask to the South - within the wall of the barrier.
  • They will study and wait for us.
  • Stormy remembered that the Great Tree had protected our world from things outside it. She thinks the darkness pyre is related to the great tree being gone.   Ken Hilbark will travel to Free Alador. We provide him with contacts there.   We need to let them know what they need to do when they need to do it.  

    Rashid Joins the Guild

    How join the guild? He has to prove his magic is of the arcane nature. (They dont' like wild magic.)
  • Rashid casts his own spell (that HE created), magic mucelage. It smells like oranges and rubber cement.
  • The Council is geeking out over it. They are impressed. "Very well! Fetch the Book of Legends." (the book of Mages in the Guild)
  • If he writes it down for them, he can take a scroll from their library (or learn a spell).
  • the fact that Rashid created something - it's special.
  • Writing his name in the Book of Legends is more than just writing. There is a link - he's identified. Always a member. But know if you cease to exist/die.
  • They know Gareth and his name appears by Rashid's.
