Session 6: Old Owl Well

General Summary

After Northern Star's Hatching, we head south to Thunder Tree and watch for Wave Echo Cave and Old Owl Well.

 

Day 2 on the road

We find:
  • a body, dead less than a day, beaten to death
  • wagon with empty cask
  • LARGE humanoid tracks
  • After burying the body, we search more. Cita climbs a tree and spots an ogre hiding behind an outcropping. It spots her too.  
    The Ogre, Thaco, demands, "Put treasure things in bag before die!". Rashid casts web on Thaco and we're able to take him down quickly.   Cernan decides to take a look at Thaco's bag. It's lumpy, but nothing comes out when we try to dump it out. So he sticks his arm in and pulls out a moldy rope. The bag still isn't empty. So we end up taking turns pulling out the items and learn it's a bag of holding). Sweet!   R.I.P. Thaco. (Mike misses you.)

     

    Day 3 on the Road

    We rest and travel to Old Owl Well. There we encounter the smell of a camp fire. Cita sneaks off to investigate. She sees Captain Borland, Wrin Becklam, and Alistair Magnut III, with a group of undead. They're waiting for Seran and amassing an army. Cita sneaks back.   We plan and wait for Borland's human crew to sleep. Then we lure the zombies out of camp to keep the noise down. As we fight them, we realize these aren't just ANY zombies. They shoot spores (about 5 ft) of that nasty Amanita Mushroom. Cernan gets hit by the spores.   During the fight with the zombies, we take out several before Borland and Wrin wake up.  
    Tactics included: putting a web on most of the zombies, setting them and the web on fire, attacking them with weapons. Northern Star's reaction with +1d6 lightning each time a member of our party attacked, helped too.
      Will the intrepid adventurers survive the battle? Will Cernan be able to fight off the mushroom infection? Will it allow Borland to control Cernan?

  • cita climbs a tree: sees giant and he sees her.

  • cita sneaks ahead: a well, campfire, tents, big tent, people - a couple soldiers. Captain borland, Rin, alchemist, soldiers, and undead (waiting for Seran and amassing an army). Sneaks back.
  • We wait until the humans go to sleep
  • lure the zombies out to a rock
  • Cernan overwhlmed with smell of mushrooms - zombies (not undead)
  • Thoradin and Cernan - con save. Cernan inahles spores
  • Cita sees at least one of the guys in a small tent wake up.
  • We pick off zombies
  • First hit is spores, after that not.
