King Aetrocus Arcadius Maígillith
(a.k.a. King Aetrocus)
King Aetrocus Arcadius Maígillith was Queen Lumaia's husband and regent of the elven kingdom for more than 1500 years. The tall, handsome elf reached the proud age of 5762. He died after a mysterious illness befell him, a few years after the Bloodthirst King declared war against the elves.
To this day, illnesses among the immortal species have barely been studied. Death of an immortal meant returning to the world as a part of nature, and, therefore, death was celebrated, even if the people dying had a rather humorous end. Illnesses, in this philosophy, are an anomaly that should not be tolerated. Immortals are generally immune against the ailments of the mortals, so it came as a shock when Aetrocus was found to grow seriously ill. It had been impossible to spot in his system, until it took effect and forced Aetrocus to isolate himself from the public. Aetrocus noted in one of his tightly written journal entries that he had felt something harming him over the past few years, long before the healers of Sithaline had found anything in his bloodstream. Unsure of what to do, Queen Lumaia invited a doctor and pharmacist from Lemdaux Village in Lorla to complete his majesty's examination. Even though he couldn't truly tell what he had, he noticed parallels to pneumonia and anemia, as well as a severe lack of vitamins and minerals in his body. He quickly asserted that Aetrocus's illness was draining him, stripping him from his vitality, causing him to die in a rather grim fashion. He compared it to killing a plant with salt and vinegar, draining it from its fluids and burning whatever is left. Aetrocus, being the kindhearted and understanding of the royal couple, accepted his fate and left Lumaia and his only daughter Erínia quietly in his sleep, several months later. In his will, he asked Erínia to become the healer by her mother's side, knowing that this is what she truly wanted. Erínia considers him her dearest friend and idol.
